Random Thoughts Vol. 1

- Sometimes I drive past those shopping cart racks in the parking lot that only take up half a space, and I think, "I could fit in that." But then I would be blocking the cart rack and someone would probably try to take out my compact car (I do not have a Smart Car; I have a Scion IQ which is a similar size).

- I drive really slow and honestly I don't think about it. This woman started honking madly at me and flew up beside me at a red light screaming and gesticulating wildly. I was probably going about 38 in a 35 mph zone, and this clearly drove her to the brink of madness. I couldn't hear her talking and could only see her mouth moving, so I shrugged and gave her the thumbs up. I also drive 60 on our 55 mph interstate... crazy.

- I bought a sun shade to put in the windshield of my car. It's one of those giant foldy ones, so I unfolded it and used it once. I was then unable to fold it back into its little holder, so I left it folded in half and huge in the back of my car for a couple weeks before a coworker rode with me and folded it back for me. I'm not going to unfold it again and it's going in Greg's car.

- I have rarely had an angry hormonal day, but I had one the other week when I was hangry and my friend took forever getting to my apartment to meet me for dinner. He was so late that by the time we got to the restaurant to eat, he could only stay for 15 minutes before he had to leave for work and then I had to finish eating on my own. I was not happy that day.

- I had a strong craving for strawberry pie the other day, and I stopped at the store to get some strawberries and whip cream. I got the strawberries, but the whip cream ingredients freaked me out. The main ingredients were water, hydrogenated oil, and corn syrup. I found some coconut whip cream at Whole Foods the next day with non weird ingredients and it's delicious.

- I only just now gave in and ordered maternity underwear. I send my desperate hopes that it gets here soon.

- I watched all of Jessica Jones season one last weekend, and I loved it. Not sure what to fill the David Tennant sized hole in my TV life with now.

- I'll probably have to fill it with the five books I currently have checked out from the library.
What are you watching/reading, lately?

  1. I just checked out three books from the library yesterday and I'm a little nervous about it because that's pretty ambitious for me. Haha! I don't think that's slow driving- I was expecting you to say you drove UNDER the speed limit. That lady needs a chill pill. Ha.

  2. That's so funny. In my mind there is no end to the usefulness of Belle/Book GIFs. I am currently working through the books I own. I am counting them and making a google doc and then getting serious about reading them. It's completely out of control. I've bought new shelves so many times. Acquiring at a much greater rate than reading is not good. Not good at all. LOL I just finished reading The Cuckoo's Calling last night, it was initially slow... but I became way more invested about half way through. I liked it in the end. :) I am also reading Gentleman Prefer Blondes. It's ridiculous and cute at the same time. Unsure how I'll feel in the end. We have been working our way through the newest season of New Girl and through the entire series of Parks and Rec. We are currently not watching anything more plot based.. .which I need... so I'm hoping we start something soon. We started Sherlock in May and promptly finished the whole thing.. blast. We have a small car too and it's the bomb dot com. Some people hate them, but I love it! XO - Alexandra

  3. I was driving the speed limit this morning & the guy behind me was so mad... I could feel his anger. isn't that so weird.

Get those maternity undies girl - all about comfort!!!

Our neighbor made a strawberry pie a few weeks ago for us... I'm craving THAT. It was amazing!!

  4. Random thought posts are so fun. :-)
I drive approximately the speed limit too. I like to think I'm doing those drivers behind me a favor by saving them from a speeding ticket, because seriously the police in this town are sticklers.
I've been reading lots (but nothing that I love unfortunately). And watching nothing, although that strawberry GIF from Firefly makes me want to re-watch the whole season for like the 4th time.

  5. I have a Scion XA which is a tiny car compared to most cars, but still bigger than your Scion IQ. But I know what you mean about how great it is to have so many parking options. Whenever we go to big cities or go downtown here we always take the Scion because it's so tiny and easy to park! :) People make fun of our Scion, but it gets awesome gas mileage and I love it! :)

  6. People go flying through my neighborhood at ridiculous speeds and they come riding up on my car like I am not even moving. Ummm I am going to speed limit and there are kids all over the place playing. I end up driving even slower just to mess with them. Leave earlier if you are in such a hurry, you know?? Its not worth hitting a kid or dog. I need to order maternity underwear :( Where did you get yours from?

  7. Haha that's awesome that you gave that crazy lady just a thumbs up sign! Some people are just so rude! And the hangry thing is a real issue! Why don't men get it that when women say they're hungry, they're hungry and want to eat, otherwise they'll get upset.

  8. I don't miss crazy drivers, some people get too psycho with their driving. Like it's not that big a deal so no need for a freakout, I always drive just above the speed limit and guess what, I don't have to ever complain about speeding tickets because I've never had one. I've been watching Game of Thrones with my husband, which is turning out pretty interesting in spite of all the stuff that I don't like about it. I'm about to start reading Pet Sematary by Stephen King and I'm very excited for it because he said he thinks it's the scariest book he's ever written.

    1. I've had one speeding ticket, which I still say was kind of silly since I got it late at night when I was the only one on the road, but I was speeding so I guess it's somewhat deserved. I read Pet Semetary a long time ago and I don't remember much but there was one part that was too bizarre for me to want to see the movie after that, so I still haven't seen it!

  9. okay i love the serenity/firefly strawberry gif but i wish you didn't tell me about the ingredients in whipped cream because i love whipped cream! of course it can't be good for you, but i love ignoring things! haha.
i would have been so angry at the friend that was late. why were they late?! i hate late people!!
is jessica jones coming back for season 2? i hope so, but i will be sad without DT. he was so good in that. he's good in everything, duh.
um, if you drive slow, i drive slow too. i am so used to sydney, you will get a fine if you drive 1 or 2 over the limit. the most i go over the limit here is 5.

  10. I really need to give Jessica Jones another try. I tried watching it a few months ago but didn't really like it, but I hear it's good and the girl's name is Jessica so i definitely WANT to like it, lol.

I rarely ever drive the speed limit... which is bad, I know. I always go at least 10 over. Slow cars make me so mad LOL I have horrible road rage that I'm trying to work on haha ;)

    1. Some shows are like that for me, too. I tried to get into Daredevil and couldn't, which made me hesitant to try Jessica Jones. However, they are totally different! I know what you mean about wanting to like something but it just doesn't work for you. I loved Jessica Jones, but it may not be everyone's style!
